Towel selection can make a difference, especially when it comes to sustainability. When choosing a bath towel, the main concern is often about its material - cotton. As cotton is a thirsty plant, it takes over 20,000 litres (5,283 gallons) of water to produce just one kilogram (2.2 pounds) of it - source from WWF. This roughly equates to produce ONE cotton bath towel.
A step further to sustainability, why not move forward to look into the recycling options? Dock & Bay - Certified B Corp™️ is my choice. As a mother of a swimmer, I am not just looking for a comfortable and durable bath towel. The demand is going for a "beach" towel, as big as a bath towel but also with the benefit of being handy to carry and quick to dry.
Dock & Bay uses 100% recycled materials for all their towels. Specifically, they use post-consumer plastic that would have otherwise ended up in a landfill. This plastic is collected, shredded, and woven into two yarns: polyester and polyamide nylon. These two materials are then combined to create a unique, quick-drying, durable, and soft material that makes up the towels. By using Dock & Bay towels, you can save up to TWENTY-TWO bottles from ending up in the ocean.
In addition to being environmentally friendly, Dock & Bay - Certified B Corp™️ are doing their bit also on the shipping packaging is fully biodegradable and they also donate a percentage of their profits to charity. Their latest initiative for 2023 is with The Hunger Project, which aims to give hungry people the tools they need to feed themselves.
By choosing Dock & Bay towels, not only are you making a sustainable and eco-friendly choice, but you are also contributing to a mission to make the world a little brighter.
